“BB The Best”

Tuesday 21st April, 2009

For the second time in under two months, the Boys of the 79th Glasgow Junior Section have been featured in The Extra newspaper. The article details the Boys’ victory in a recent drill competition.

The article reads:

“Thirteen youngsters from the 79th Glasgow Boys’ Brigade Company were celebrating after winning the BB Battalion Marching Competition. The Junior Section, based at Newton Mearns Parish Church, won a trophy for their efforts at the event held in Kenmuir Church, Mount Vernon.

The Boys faced difficult competition from four other companies from across Glasgow. Robbie Sutherland, captain of the 79th, told The Extra: ‘We have had a very successful year in competition over the last 12 months, so much so that they may have to invest in a new cabinet for all of their trophies!’

Eastwood District BB last won this trophy in 1997/98. This win compounds the success the Boys had just a few weeks ago in another marching competition.”

Congratulations to all Boys who took part in the competition!

Christmas Wishes from the 79th!

Wednesday 24th December, 2008

Every member of staff of the 79th Glasgow Boys’ Brigade Company would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We have had quite an eventful, and a very successful few months - we would like to once again congratulate all of the Boys for their achievements so far, and hope that they continue to do just as well in the second part of the year.

We would also like to thank all of the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and anybody else who has helped us - whether it be driving your son to and from the Church on a Friday night or Sunday morning, helping and encouraging the Boys with the work that they do within the Boys’ Brigade, or for supporting the Company. For this, we are truly grateful.

All the best for the Holidays, and we will see you ready and raring to go in 2009.
